What does ‘tuugu’ mean and what do we do?
‘tuugu’ is a play of the German words ‘tut’ (do) and ‘gut’ (good). Together it means, ‘do something good’! We are the first social online platform for cleaning services and we pride ourselves on offering fair wages, transparent working conditions, and social security for our cleaners.
And that’s not all! Our social goal as a company is to donate 100% of our profit* towards improving education for children and youth from disadvantaged families. We partner with non-profit associations that work in this field and are always dependent on donations.
*Profit is the remaining sum after deducting salaries and running costs.
How much does it cost to use tuugu?
tuugu is free to use for all users. Only if you wish, you can set up a voluntary monthly contribution that can be adjusted or stopped at any time.
Are all the cleaners at tuugu legally employed?
Yes, all the cleaners at tuugu are legally employed. They are either self-employed with a ‘Gewerbeschein’ (business license) or are an employee at a cleaning company. Cleaners’ profiles will be activated after their business license is verified by tuugu.
How do I book a cleaner?
As a customer, you can start by entering your postcode and create your booking with a few clicks. After that, please choose up to 3 cleaners and send them a request. The first cleaner that accepts receives the job.
I found a cleaner. What are the next steps?
As soon as the cleaner accepts your booking request, you will both get access to the detail window. Here you will find each other’s contact details and you can communicate with each other via email or telephone to arrange the first cleaning appointment.
How should the cleaning appointment play out?
Please ensure your cleaner has access to the appointment location. You should also provide your cleaner with the cleaning products to be used. Please be aware of the current coronavirus restrictions and act accordingly.
The cleaning appointment was successful. What should I do now?
After each cleaning session, an invoice will be created by tuugu on behalf of the cleaner. Please always transfer the outstanding sum to your cleaner’s bank account. We recommend setting up an automatic payment with your bank account. (FYI: an automatic payment function will be integrated into the website soon!)
You will be able to rate your cleaner after the first cleaning session. You can do this in the detail window.
